"Altra Skin is a deeply personal scent, not just for me, but for everyone who wears it. When I composed this scent, I wanted to create an adaptive sheer perfume that would feel like part of your being, something that felt unique to each person who wears it. I imagined a scent that was like a veil, enveloping you with a sense of clean cosiness, like freshly showered skin with just the right amount of soft musks. The perfect balance of being familiar yet hard to put your finger on, alluring and softly sexy. It’s airy and light, yet mimics the most sensual aspects of human skin – your skin, but better.
I always wanted to bottle the smell of a lover’s neck, that addictive scent that’s subtle yet magnetic, drawing you in closer to inhale the hypnotic scent of skin at it’s best. Instead of creating a classically composed perfume with top, heart and base notes, Altra Skin is all about the base notes… on paper you will hardly detect the scent at all, it requires the missing ingredient of your skin to warm the heavier molecules and bring the scent to life. The beauty of this scent is its malleable nature, melding seamlessly with your being, your unique body chemistry will dictate how the scent smells on your particular skin, as it enhances your natural scent creating a transparent aura of scent around you.
The individual notes in this scent are a secret, they form an accord that mimics the most sensual characteristics of your skin – creamy, airy, softly sweet, musky, at times powdery. You may be able to detect the faintest hint of florals, woods, suede, even incense, but the overall effect is that of skin at its most alluring.
The best thing about Altra Skin is that it suits everyone, and every occasion. It’s the perfect year-round scent, worn alone or layered over your favourite perfumes to take them beyond their original facets. Layering is so fun to experiment with, as you will often get surprising results, at times it will exaggerate a smokey note (in say, Stone Cold Heart) or bring out more of the floralcy (in Ghost Flower, for example), it can soften or strengthen the other scent’s notes, which allows you to play with proportions perhaps starting your day with one scent, adding Altra Skin later in the afternoon to revive it or take it to the next level. I love how layering allows you to curate your scent experience throughout the day.
